FYJC Admission Guide for Other Board Students (CBSE, ICSE, IB, NIOS)
For a student who did not study in Maharashtra Board (SSC) and is from other boards like CBSE, ICSE, IGCSE, IB, NIOS or any other state board, FYJC admission is possible through the same online system, but with some extra rules and documents.
1. Who is counted as an "Other Board" student?
- "Other Board" means any board except the Maharashtra State Board (MSBSHSE).
- Examples: CBSE, ICSE/CISCE, IGCSE/CAIE, IB, NIOS, and all other state boards from India or foreign boards.
- These students can take admission in Maharashtra junior colleges, but they must follow special instructions given in the FYJC information booklet and on the portal.
2. Basic Eligibility for FYJC (Other Board)
- Must have passed Class 10 (or equivalent) from a recognised board.
- English must be one compulsory subject.
- The board must be recognised by the government; students from unrecognised or unauthorised boards are not eligible.
- Students who failed in 11th in some other system, or are coming from ITI/Polytechnic etc., can apply for FYJC fresh, but only as per rules in the booklet and college instructions.
3. Extra Documents for Other Board Students
Along with the standard documents, other board students usually need some extra papers:
- Class 10 Marksheet: Original + scanned copy.
- School Leaving Certificate (LC/TC): Original from your last attended school.
- Migration Certificate: From your previous board (mandatory for CBSE, ICSE, other states, etc.).
- Passing Certificate: From your board (especially for ICSE/CBSE/NIOS).
- Eligibility Certificate / Form 2904: From the college or Maharashtra Board (for boards outside Maharashtra, foreign boards, etc., as per that college’s rule).
- Other Documents: Aadhaar card/government ID, photos, caste certificate, EWS, disability certificate etc., if applicable.
4. Very Important: "Eligibility" from Maharashtra Board
- Many junior colleges clearly mention: students from boards other than Maharashtra Board must get an Eligibility Certificate from the Maharashtra State Board or submit an eligibility form through the college.
- This certificate confirms that your 10th board qualification is equivalent to SSC and you can be granted admission in FYJC.
- Typical Process: Take admission through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP), then submit documents to the college. The college helps you apply for the Eligibility Certificate with a small fee and an undertaking on stamp paper.
5. Step-by-Step Guide: Online Process
Think of it as two parts: the online form and the offline verification.
Step 1: Collect All Documents
- Keep ready: 10th marksheet, leaving certificate, Aadhaar, photos, caste/EWS/minority proof (if any).
- For other boards, specifically ensure you have your Migration Certificate and Passing Certificate.
- Check file size and format instructions on the FYJC website for scanned copies.
Step 2: Go to Official FYJC Website
- Open the official portal (11thadmission.org.in) for Maharashtra FYJC admission.
- Read the latest Information Booklet PDF for the current year; it has a special section for "Other Boards Students".
Step 3: Register and Create Account
- Click on "New Student Registration" and enter your name, mobile number, email, and basic details exactly as they appear on your marksheet.
- Verify the OTP sent to your mobile/email and create a password. Note these credentials safely.
Step 4: Fill Part-1 Form (Student Details + Marks)
- Log in and open the Part-1 (Registration) form.
- Fill in personal details, address, category (Open/SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Minority etc.), and select that you are from Other Board.
- Manual Marks Entry: For other board students, marks often do not automatically populate. You must manually enter subject-wise marks correctly.
- Upload scanned documents as requested: marksheet, LC, caste certificate, Aadhaar, etc.
Step 5: Special Instructions (Verification)
- Crucial Step: Many instructions specify that other board students must get their Part-1 form verified/approved at a nearby Guidance Centre or a selected school/college before they can fill options in Part-2.
- After filling Part-1 online, visit the mentioned Guidance Centre with your original documents. The staff will check and approve the form in the system.
- Note for NIOS: Original marksheet is compulsory at the time of verification.
Step 6: Fill Part-2 Form (College Preferences)
- After Part-1 is verified, open the Part-2 (Options Form).
- Choose your stream (Arts/Commerce/Science/HSVC), medium, and city/region.
- Add a list of junior colleges in your order of preference (1st choice, 2nd choice, 3rd choice, etc.).
- Save and Lock: Lock the form within the given dates. Once locked, you generally cannot change it quickly, so think carefully before locking.
Step 7: Wait for Merit List and Allotment
- The department publishes a General Merit List for all students (including other boards) where you can check your marks, category, and details for accuracy.
- Then, for every CAP Round (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.), college allotment lists are declared. If you get a seat, the status will show in your login.
Step 8: College Visit and Confirmation
- If you are allotted a college and want to take that seat, visit the junior college within the specified dates with all original documents.
- The college will ask for your migration certificate, passing certificate, and eligibility-related documents. They may give you an eligibility form to fill and sign.
- Pay the admission fees and collect the fee receipt. Your admission is now confirmed, and you are out of subsequent regular rounds (if you confirm your first preference).
6. Special Notes for Different Boards
| Board | Special Requirements |
|---|---|
| CBSE / ICSE / CISCE | Must submit Board Passing Certificate + Migration Certificate along with marksheet and LC. The rest of the process is the same. |
| NIOS | Must submit original NIOS marksheet. Follow the portal note regarding filling "Part A" or special sections as instructed in that year's guideline. |
| IGCSE / IB / Foreign | Recognition and equivalence rules apply. An Eligibility Certificate through the Maharashtra Board/college is almost always mandatory. |
7. Who is NOT Eligible?
- Students from unrecognised boards or "private institutes" that do not have government recognition cannot take admission through the FYJC system.
- Students who do not provide a valid original marksheet and leaving certificate at the time of verification will be removed from regular rounds. They might get a chance only in the last special round, subject to availability and rules.
